Now Hiring: Part-Time Custodian

Pay Rate: $12 Hourly
Part-Time: 10-15 Hours Weekly

Job Description: 

Dedicated and detail-oriented individual. The custodian will be responsible for maintaining our church facilities’ cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming and safe environment for our congregation and visitors. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting all areas of the church building, including the sanctuary, front lobby, offices, restrooms, and common areas. 
  • Performs regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance. 
  • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste in accordance with established guidelines. 
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, and ensure they are well-maintained throughout services and events. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces. 
  • As needed, set up and tear down furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and gatherings. 
  • Monitor and maintain cleaning supplies and equipment inventory and report any maintenance issues or supply needs to the appropriate personnel. 
  • Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaks, and other general repairs as assigned. 
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting fire safety checks and security alarm system operation.

  • Flexibility: Adaptability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed to accommodate special events and services. 
  • Physical endurance: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work is an asset. 
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment. 
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and carpet cleaners safely and effectively. 
  • Ability to operate landscape and power tools. 
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and maintenance activities.
