Job Description:
Dedicated and detail-oriented individual. The custodian will be responsible for maintaining our church facilities’ cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming and safe environment for our congregation and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting all areas of the church building, including the sanctuary, front lobby, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
- Performs regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance.
- Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste in accordance with established guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, and ensure they are well-maintained throughout services and events.
- Maintain cleanliness of windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
- As needed, set up and tear down furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and gatherings.
- Monitor and maintain cleaning supplies and equipment inventory and report any maintenance issues or supply needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaks, and other general repairs as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting fire safety checks and security alarm system operation.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work is an asset.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and carpet cleaners safely and effectively.
- Ability to operate landscape and power tools.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and maintenance activities.
